Outline for the workshop: The joy of sketching is a development from the Art for pleasure course with a greater focus on developing your sketching skills and sketchbook. The course is limited to an absolute maximum of just 4, and will be held in my garden studio.
I have sketchbooks from trips all around the world, Europe, Australia and Arica. They are precious and beautiful and I want you to have the confidence to go out sketching, whether you’re around the corner from your house or on the other side of the world, sketching is a wonderful way to explore the world around us.
Outline for the workshop: The joy of sketching is a development from the Art for pleasure course with a greater focus on developing your sketching skills and sketchbook. The course is limited to an absolute maximum of just 4, and will be held in my garden studio.
We will begin with some drawing exercises to get you warmed up if you're out of practice.
If we have fine weather we'll spend a bit of time looking at the view from my garden. This is excellent practice for anyone who wants to develop their skills before going on holiday. I'll give you the confidence to be one of those people sketching to their heart's content outside a Parisien cafe!
We will look at some of my sketchbooks. Will look at the good the bad and the ugly. Some sketchbooks are an exploration and don't look perfect. Other sketchbooks are works of art in their own right.
I will teach you some techniques that will help you:
sketch every day at home
sketch more ambitious pieces when out and about
how to prepare for a super holiday away.
I can give you a shopping list that won't break the bank and will help you on your artistic journey.
There is usually enough time in the second half of the afternoon for you to work on anything you choose. So do feel free to bring along any paintings that you've lost your way with, or that simply didn't work the first time. I'll be able to help you resolve unfinished work or show you how you can avoid the same mistake next time.
Bring a packed lunch.
The price for the day is £85. I will provide tea and coffee through the day. Price includes basic drawing materials, paper and watercolour. If you already have a sketchbook its goodidea to bring it along with you, though this course is suitable for people who have previously failed to keep a sketchbook and want to know how to do it.
If you've lost your artistic stamina. I can help you on your artistic journey!
My workshops are relaxed and friendly and in my garden studio in Salisbury. Each time we always have a lovely day, come and be a part of the next one.
