Cheetah in the early morning light
Ink on canvas 70x70cm
We saw a cheetah and her three adolescent cubs in the early morning light. Stanley managed to get us into the right place so that we could watch her and her cubs cross the river. Cheetah, like most cats, do not like water and we saw her athletically leap from one steppingstone to another One her cubs, almost as graceful, the other two, more reluctant in their leaps, got wet. She pounded up the bank next to us looking back to see if her cubs had made it safely across the river; they had. For a fleeting moment the Sun hits her face and we captured the perfect view. Before she darted into the distance in search of antelope.
