Jincho
Oil on linen
75x 75cm
This beautiful lion has been created with only the finest quality materials.
Let me tell you a bit about Jincho the lion.
Jincho is a Swahili word for one eye. Jinko is one of the four dominant males in the Offbeat pride On the North conservancy of the Masai Mara. Those four boys have worked hard to rise to the top. They have six good eyes , and three good tails between them! Many a fight has been won. Jincho reminded me of Mohawk. Mohawk was in the Offbeat pride on my first visit to the North Conservancy back in 2019. At first, I even thought it was Mohawk, one eye the poorer, but in fact Mohawk has moved on from Offbeat and is now on the main reserve. Jincho is one of the most handsome lions, his only defect being his left eye now virtually lost. Sunken back into the socket, appearing cloudy blue rather then a rich golden. But he’s still handsome, sat in the grass with his mane waving in the breeze. I was utterly transfixed by him. Lions really are extraordinary beasts and when at rest, they seem so calm and so thoughtful, but the eye reminds us that they have to fight to protect their pride.
"Jincho" is a truly unique piece and will make you smile every time you look at him.
Unframed. This painting comes the D rings and hanging cord attached and is ready to hang.
