What is an art trail?
It is a great way to indulge your love of all things artistic, handmade and real. Whether you are exploring your own creative spirit, collecting art or starting your adventure into the creative and visual arts in Salisbury. There are venues all through the town centre, and further afield, which are open to the public from 2nd June-17th June.

What kind of venues?
Some artists have opened their own homes and studios for you to visit. Others are exhibiting in other spaces such as shops, hotels, restaurants and cafes.

What kind of art?
There is an embarrassment of riches on offer this year, from detailed botanic studies to huge expressive oil paintings. From vibrant mixed media to subtle watercolours, from dramatic ceramics to exquisite jewellery, from incredible sculpture to ingenious drawing and everything in between.

How many artists and venues are there?
There are 55 venues to visit, exhibiting work of over 100 artists.

How does it work?
You pick up a trail brochure (or download here) and plan your route around the trail venues. In the brochure there are details including opening times, postcodes and the artists exhibiting there. You can work your way through the trail in order, starting the city centre and working outwards, or browse through and select your favourites to visit.

What can I expect?
Everything from cosy cottage to cutting edge. You’ll be meeting some of the artists themselves, you might be visiting their studio or seeing an exhibition. There are some venues doing demonstrations and workshops too, so you can gain an insight into how the work is made.
For the first year we even have two showcase venues, Salisbury Library and Salisbury Arts Centre hosting the “Trailblazers” exhibitions demonstrating the huge diversity of work you’ll see on the trail.

Is anything for sale?
Yes.  There is something wonderful about buying a creation from the artist who made it, the object and the story that accompanies it will remain valued for years to come. You’ll have a life long connection with the artist and their work.

Isn’t it all a bit complicated?
Not at all.
The brochure has a really easy-to-read map and suggested route. There are descriptions and pictures of the work at the venue, there are details about demonstrations and activities at the venue, and with so many of them being cafes/restaurants there's always a chance of refreshment during your journey. And with 16 days to explore the trail, you don’t have to do it all in one go, you can spread the joy through two weeks and three weekends!

How do I find out more?
There are art trail brochures in the tourist information centre and a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Alternatively you can download a free pdf right here.

Where are you going to be?
My work will be on display in the White Hart hotel lounge and foyer. I’ll be doing painting demonstrations on various dates through the trail!

I can't wait to start hanging my work in the beautiful surroundings of the White Hart Hotel and I hope to be able to see you there on one of the days I'm demonstrating.

I hope you enjoy the art trail...it's a real treat!
